Our counselors will help you face your challenges head on. All counseling services are provided in a welcoming confidential environment. Our counselors help build resilience and facilitate growth so you can live a fuller, more productive life. Our counselors work with anyone in need, regardless of religious affiliation, serving people of all ages with a variety of traditional and non-traditional treatment approaches. We offer help in challenging life circumstances which may include:

During each counseling session, our staff works to identify and support your strengths to promote wellness and health, while working collaboratively to meet your goals. We see you as a whole person, rather than simply as a diagnosis.


LSS of MT is covered under most major insurance plans; some insurance plans require pre-certification procedures which our counselors can help you navigate. We also offer a sliding fee scale will be used to the benefit of many clients facing extenuating circumstances such as loss of employment or disability.

Mike Nicholes, LCSW has 30+ years of experience working with individuals, couples & families. His approach to counseling is to utilize a caring, supportive relationship with clients to help them identify and meet their counseling needs and goals. Mike has specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy and brief solution focused therapy and has helped clients who may be experiencing a wide range of challenges.

Trudi Paulson, LCSW has worked with elders, families and children in a variety of settings throughout her career. Her focus is to start where the client is and work together to identify achievable goals. Trudi has specialized training in grief and loss, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy and mindfulness practice.

Janet Ross, MSW, SWLC received her Master’s of Social Work degree from University of New England and is currently a candidate for clinical licensure in the State of Montana under the supervision of Mike Nicholes, LCSW. Janet has extensive experience in the world of adoption and has special interests in parenting, attachment and bonding, and healthy family functioning. She has worked with clients of all ages and believes humans grow and develop in and through relationships.
